Top Summer Interior Design Tips for a Cool and Comfortable Home

Staying comfortable this summer

The heat, the sun, and the fun are all just a singular part of how good the season is. There is so much to be grateful for when it comes to summertime. It is the time when there are children playing blissfully in fields, adults relaxing in the sun, and everyone just having a generally good time. Summer interior is also one of my favourite seasonal interiors of all. This is because you can go from the exact polar opposite of a warm, cosy home in winter to a cool and comfortable area in the summer where you can sit and enjoy your own space without feeling too stuffy or hot.

Comfortable Home in Summer

A definite must-have throughout summer is a comfortable home. This is because it is important that you can chill out in your environment, whilst feeling comfortable and being able to enjoy your own space. Without this comfort throughout the season, it is easy to feel overwhelmed and overheated within your own home. This could be down to things such as too many throws, fluffy rugs on the floor or even something as simple as a very filled environment. By this, I mean when a room is highly decorated and accessorised. In summer, it is good to have a space which is kept minimal and tidy. The reason for this is that a minimalist-styled room often gives off a cooler vibe. This is why you often see lots of modernised homes in very sunny areas with a very minimalist interior design style.

Top tips on how to gain the perfect Summer Interior

  1. Temporarily get rid of all fluffy or blanket-type items

Store away those fur rugs and fluffy blankets for winter! Summer is hot enough as it is; you don’t want to be overheating!

  1. Add in a few simple accessories to brighten up the room

Bright colours can reflect emotions, seasons and many other things. But by adding bright colours to your home throughout summer, you can create a cool and welcoming environment.

  1. Ensure that your sofa or seating area is kept cool

Anyone else hating leather sofas in summer? Burning your legs as you sit down? Here’s a solution: use a thin cotton throw over the top of your sofa and use it to ensure that the leather isn’t getting too hot! Also, get rid of all unnecessary pillows to maximise space and comfort (no one wants to be bemollycoddled by a bunch of cushions on a scorching day!

  1. Move any items which you feel crowd the room to remove the stuffy environment

Whether it be lots of furniture, ornaments or simply too many pillows, just move them aside for when summer has ended!

  1. Use fans as an accessory

With gorgeous new trends with rose gold, copper and many other styled items, you can now use things such as fans to your interior advantage! Spend a few more pounds on that new fan and get a touch of colour into your home with something which also has a practical use!
